I invite my fellow Senators to examine the findings and discussions made in the Committee Report filed today. I am confident that they will agree that the proposals in the legislation before us are ill-advised and untimely.
“The committee report is going to be unfavorable [to the proposal],” Marcos told reporters after his committee conducted its last hearing on the bills seeking to postpone the ARMM elections and synchronize it with the 2013 midterm elections.
Marcos said postponing the ARMM polls is tantamount to destroying the region’s autonomy. “If we recognize that autonomy is a central point in all the peace talks, why are we destroying it? If you are canceling the election and appointing people as officers-in-charge, where is the autonomy,” he said during the weekly news forum at the Annabel’s restaurant in Quezon City.
