Salute to the Millennial Generation

As each of you accept your diploma this afternoon please be most thankful for this great blessing that has been showered upon you. But more importantly, be always mindful of the fact that with this blessing and with this opportunity goes the responsibility that you carry as a concerned and a proactive member of your province, and most of all, as a citizen of our beloved country.
You have been so fortunate for this holistic formation that your school administrators and mentors have prepared for you so as to mold you to become men and women for others, not only in your local communities, but more especially as you take part in the challenging task of nation building for a better Philippines in the community of nations!

When I was younger, I know in my heart that I will become a public servant so I worked hard and focused to become a better one. You, too, should have focus and faith. Believe in yourselves so that others will also believe in you. Have confidence in what you do and you will later on realize that there will be no limits on what you can accomplish.

Ang tanging hadlang sa mga bagay na pwede ninyong makamtan ay ang mga hadlang na kayo mismo ang nagtalaga sa inyong sarili—mga limitasyon na nasa isip lamang. Huwag kayong magpadala sa ganoong klaseng hadlang bagkus ay palagi kayong maghangad at mangarap ng tagumpay. At samahan niyo rin ng palagiang pagdarasal.

46th Commencement Exercises of Our Lady of Fatima University

My dear graduates, graduation is truly a wonderful thing. You are now done with difficult assignments. You have passed baffling exams. You have worked hard and also played hard. You have stumbled but managed to get up back. You surely had your share of failures growing up over the last four years. But now you are here celebrating the trials and challenges that college life has given you. You are way too close in receiving your diplomas. But I hope that your lives will be filled with many more, not just diplomas, but in the sense that you will have soaring accomplishments throughout your days. Accomplishments that cannot be measured by papers.

As I stand here today, I could not help but to be proud for the country. Proud in the sense that despite these challenging times—surging prices, climate change, rampant corruptions, unemployment, among others—we are able to produce well-rounded graduates who will soon lead this nation.
